MUSHAYAVANHU PLANS TO DESTROY THE ECONOMY WITH ZIG

Zimbabwe is again heading for serious trouble. The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) governor, John Mushayavanhu, is thinking of making ZiG the only money people can use in Zimbabwe. This is a big mistake. Many experts say this will destroy the economy. It is like starting a fire in a dry forest. ZiG is already one of the weakest currencies in the world. If we all start using it alone, things will get worse very fast.

Mushayavanhu is trying to sell a dream that ZiG is strong. He says ZiG is now ready to be used for everything. But this is not true. Experts are warning that making ZiG the only currency will cause prices to shoot up again. Zimbabwe will go back to hyperinflation, just like before. People’s money will lose value, and basic things like bread and fuel will become too expensive again.

Professor Gift Mugano, a respected economist, says the government is lying. He says the ZiG is only stable because the government is stopping people from using it everywhere. For example, you can’t use ZiG to buy fuel, pay for a passport, or settle some taxes and duties. If ZiG is truly stable, why is the government afraid to let people use it for everything? The truth is, they know it is not stable. They are only pretending.

Steve Hanke, a professor from America who studies currencies, says the Zimbabwe dollar is now the third worst currency in the world. It is only better than Venezuela’s Bolivar and Lebanon’s Pound. Hanke says the money supply in Zimbabwe is rising very fast—by 122% every year. This means the government is printing too much money. When this happens, prices go up fast. He says inflation in Zimbabwe is already 79% per year. That is very high. It means people are losing their savings, and workers are becoming poorer every day.

Hanke also said that President Mnangagwa is a perfect example of how to destroy an economy. He said Mnangagwa is giving us a “masterclass in economic mismanagement.” This is not a joke. When a president is known for failing his people, it means the country is heading in the wrong direction. And now, Mushayavanhu wants to make things worse by forcing everyone to use ZiG only.

The truth is, a weak currency like ZiG cannot be trusted. People in Zimbabwe are already struggling. Prices of food, fuel, and school fees keep going up. Salaries are not enough. Now imagine if people are forced to use a currency that loses value every month. There will be more poverty, more suffering, and more anger.

The worst currencies in the world are those from countries with high inflation, bad leadership, and no foreign investment. Zimbabwe is now in that group. People are scared to invest. Businesses are closing down. Families are finding it hard to survive. And instead of fixing things, our leaders are making dangerous decisions.

Making ZiG the only currency is not a solution. It is a trap. It will make the poor suffer more. It will kill small businesses. It will chase away investors. And most of all, it will make people lose hope.

Zimbabweans must speak out now. We must say no to this plan. We must protect ourselves from another disaster. The last time we had only one weak currency, we all suffered. Let us not go back to that dark time. We deserve better. We deserve honest leadership and real solutions—not lies and fake stability.
